Supersized “The Classic” Pergola in Utah

When you have a big yard, you need a big pergola! This 19'-6" x 23'-6" structure is based on our “The Classic” pergola plans and provides plenty of shaded space for outdoor entertaining. Built with substantial 8x8 posts and 2x12 beams, it brings a strong, balanced look that complements the open scale of the yard. The design blends timeless proportions with the homeowner’s existing patio layout for a natural fit.

The homeowner took on the entire build as a DIY project, carefully aligning the pergola to fit over footings that were already poured in the patio area. With solid planning and craftsmanship, the project came together beautifully, adding both presence and functionality to the outdoor space. The finished result is a sturdy, well-proportioned pergola that perfectly matches the scale of its surroundings.
