The 10 ft × 12 ft deck and 18-foot ramp connect the front door to the driveway, extending the home’s usable space. A decorative pergola frames the seating area, creating a warm, finished look. Built by the homeowner over an existing concrete stoop, the project passed inspection on the first try.
Supersized “The Classic” Pergola in Utah
When you have a big yard, you need a big pergola! This 19'-6" x 23'-6" version of The Classic pergola plan features bold 8x8 posts and 2x12 beams for a solid, timeless look. Built entirely by the homeowner, it fit perfectly over footings already poured in the patio area. The result is a spacious, well-proportioned structure that anchors the yard and creates a comfortable outdoor gathering space.
Heavy Timber Roofed Patio Cover Over Deck in Washington State
We designed this roofed patio cover in Washington to extend over an existing deck and overlap the home’s roof for full rain protection. The homeowner took our engineered plans and “beefed” them up into a timber-framed build with added visual weight and craftsmanship. Built entirely as a DIY project, it passed inspection without issue. The finished structure blends durability, function, and Northwest character in one cohesive design.
Partially Roofed Pergola in Florida
We designed this pergola to meet Florida’s strict hurricane load requirements, complete with professional engineer-stamped plans. A clear polycarbonate roof covers the middle third of this 20ft x 44ft pergola, allowing light through while keeping the space usable in the rain. Installed over an existing concrete patio, the homeowner built the project themselves in just six weeks. From permit submission to completion, the process went smoothly with almost no permitting comments.
Gigantic Shade Cloth Pergola for Vegetable Garden in Washington State
This 32ft × 43ft pergola, built by the owner based on The Tall Ship plans from our site, covers a productive garden space with pressure-treated Douglas fir. In summer, shade cloths protect the vegetables, while in winter they're removed to let in light. It's a versatile, seasonal structure that blends durability with DIY ingenuity.
Curved Pergola Over Koi Pond
This curved pergola arches gracefully over a koi pond at a stunning California home, measuring 8 feet wide and 23 feet along its curve. Each rafter was custom formed from thinner boards, bent and laminated to achieve the smooth, flowing form. Surrounded by lush gardens, patios, and sitting areas, it blends perfectly into the landscape. The result is a striking yet natural focal point that enhances the peaceful beauty of the outdoor space.
Gable Roofed Outdoor Kitchen in South Carolina
This South Carolina gable-roofed patio cover takes an uncommon approach, with the gable spanning the long direction using angled beams and flat rafters. Built from cypress, it shelters a full outdoor kitchen and adds warmth and durability to the backyard. The homeowner completed the DIY build over a new concrete patio, topping it with tongue-and-groove decking and a metal roof. The result is a distinctive, weather-ready structure that blends craftsmanship with southern character.
Sloped Roofed Patio Cover Made from Redwood
This redwood pergola was designed to shelter an outdoor kitchen with a standing seam metal roof, offering year-round protection from the elements. Set over a new gravel patio, the structure blends durability with a warm, modern aesthetic that fits seamlessly into its California surroundings. Our thoughtful design not only made the self-build achievable for the homeowner but also helped streamline permitting in one of the toughest regions to build.
Roofed Timber Pergola with Privacy Wall
This bold, timber-framed pergola was designed to attach directly to the client's home and anchor their outdoor space with clean lines and a modern aesthetic. A custom privacy screen tied into an adjacent retaining wall adds both seclusion and style, while a grid-style blocking layout and minimal hardware keep the look crisp and contemporary. Thoughtful planning ensured a smooth permitting process, resulting in a refined structure that blends architectural presence with everyday functionality.
Outdoor Kitchen Near NYC

Solar Panel Pergola in Cook County, IL
In Cook County, IL, a client requested a customized version of our popular "The Louver" pergola design to support a 6kW solar system, integrating renewable energy into his outdoor space. The homeowner built the pergola himself, creating a stylish, eco-friendly structure that blends functionality with sustainability.
Attached Patio Cover in Utah
We recently completed a custom patio cover in Utah, seamlessly attaching an 18ft x 24ft roofed structure to a stucco wall. To ensure stability, we installed 30" deep concrete footings per local building codes. The cover was designed with a slope to direct water away from the house, and the project included extending the concrete patio, creating a more functional and appealing outdoor space for our client.

Deck-Attached Pergola in Colorado
In the blazing heat of Colorado, our homeowners sought refuge from the scorching sun. They approached us with a simple yet urgent request: a shady pergola to beat the heat.
